The Garden State Parkway Could be Cashless [POLL]
If you don't have E-Z Pass, traveling the Garden State Parkway may not be an option.
Officials are thinking about switching over to a cashless toll collecting system on the Garden State Parkway as soon as next summer.
According to the Associated Press:
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has a contract with the toll collectors' unions to eliminate the jobs by July 2013. The agency could hire a private company to collect the tolls or go cashless.
Officials are looking at the Parkway first because it has fewer out-of-state drivers than the Turnpike.
So it looks like the folks who have held out on E-Z Pass because they don't want "big brother" tracking their every move may have no choice in less than a year.
Is this cashless system worth the loss of jobs? Take our poll below.
