In an attempt to make sense of two tragedies that happened so close together, Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Sandy Ground Project will be building memorial playgrounds throughout New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, several along the Jersey Shore.

The locations include Sea Bright, Point Peasant, Brick, Normandy Beach, Belmar,
and Highlands. There will be 26 playgrounds in all, symbolizing the 26 lives lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, New Jersey firemen had built a playground in Mississippi, and when the head of the FMBA saw the video of the girl thanking the firemen, he decided to try to build playgrounds for our children along the Jersey Shore and other areas affected by Sandy.

Combining the tragedies of Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook Elementary School seemed appropriate and The Sandy Ground Project-Where Angels Play was born.
