The Seafood Festival Comes to Belmar This Weekend

It's my family's favorite festival of the year and it starts Friday afternoon!

The Belmar NJ Seafood Festival is almost here!

Since Benj was a little kid (see this fave photo of mine) we have planned our calendar to make room for this fantastic event.

While many festivals are, in effect, the same (a bunch of tents, a bunch of arts and crafty things to buy, a bunch of fried foods, a bunch of bands) the Belmar Seafood festival is different for a few reasons that I can think of off the top of my head:

1. They actually kick it off on Friday late afternoon/evening so that many locals can take advantage of fresh seafood before the tourists descend.

2. They close off part of Ocean Avenue so that you can dine with an ocean view!

3. Instead of just all of your usual fried foods, you can get deals on seafood that will blow your mind. For example, instead of spending $40-ish at an upscale restaurant for lobster, you can get that same lobster -- from that same restaurant -- at the Seafood Festival for under $10!!!

4. The music. While there are many bands throughout the festival weekend, they bring in some local bands that are outstanding and more eclectic than your usual festival bands.
