Thanks to social media, I'm learning about more food-appointed mini-holidays than ever— welcome, National Pretzel Day! (Though in my household, everyday is pretzel day.)

Feel free to share your Jersey 'pretzel insider' info — tweet me @ProudJersey and at @NJ1015. But I know for certain, this is a chance for a region of our state to really shine.

Locals will be first to tell you— for a real, authentic soft pretzel, head to south Jersey.

And there's one spot more than any other that gets rave reviews, plus has the history to back it up.

Cass's Mart Pretzel Bakery is a Burlington County shop in Riverton, though some (like Yelp) place it in neighboring Cinnaminson.

A local fandom was cemented years ago, with a long run at the now shuttered Pennsauken Mart.

It seems eating from here might make you a willing 'pretzel snob.' But that's a chance I and many others, are willing to take!

Other NJ spots to get your pretzel on:

South Jersey Soft Pretzel Inc: The Stratford business began as Ocean City Pretzel Company, along the Boardwalk.  It added " Italian Water Ice" along the way and also offers gourmet ice cream (add it to our ever-growing Jersey list!).

Philly Pretzel Shop: This family run business on Route 33 in Hamilton offers soft pretzels, pretzel dogs and hot pretzel pockets, like Porkroll and Cheese.

Golden Touch Pretzels: Inside the Berlin Farmer's Market, and open Thursdays through Sundays.

Philly Pretzel Factory: With more than over 150 locations, there are plenty of stores in New Jersey.

Wetzel's Pretzels: 5 shops in NJ, including Freehold Raceway Mall & Woodbridge Mall

(And, there's an Auntie Anne's seemingly around the corner, anywhere in Jersey!)
