One popular destination in Freehold is the Freehold Raceway Mall. The Freehold Mall is the second largest mall in all of New Jersey, and people flock from all over to come see what it has to offer. It is home to a myriad of stores such as a two story Forever21 and over 20 different food vendors are inside the mall or located right outside. It is one of the most visited malls in the entire country with millions of people visiting annually.

One thing that became popular around middle school was hanging out in the mall, typically on Friday nights. As someone who worked in the mall for almost 7 months, I have certainly seen my fair share of interesting things. Ask almost anyone who has spent as much time in the mall as I have, you see some interesting things.

With all that being said, I give you a list of 5 things you are bound to see if you go to the Freehold Mall, especially on a Friday night.

    Tweens in giant groups

Like clockwork, every Friday night the groups of tweens pile into the mall making it impossible for the everyday people to get around.

  • 2

Girls in way too short crop tops

As someone who is a fan of crop tops, I get it. I really do. It's nice out and you want to wear a cute crop top. But when your crop top is barely longer than your bra does it even count as a crop top?

    The train

Anyone who has been to the Freehold Mall knows this train. It's a ride for the kids and I'm sure they all really enjoy it. However, with the amount of people that populate the mall (tweens in big groups, I'm looking at you) the train becomes a very annoying obstacle to get around.

Young teen girls holding Starbucks and a Victoria’s secret bag

As someone who used to work in the mall, this was something I saw every single day. Girls who look around twelve walking around with their Starbucks frappuccino and a small Victoria's Secret bag. It's almost as if you're not an official tween until you carry those two things around the mall.

    Children running rampant

Going to the mall with your kids is something we all understand. You want to shop, it's been a long day, so you bring your kids: alright, no problems there. But when the kid or kids are running around either in a specific store or just around the mall it becomes a tad annoying. No one minds if you bring your child, but just pay more attention to your child than to your phone call. That's all we ask.
