Most power in Brick has been restored following a line of strong thunderstorms rolled through the state on Friday afternoon and evening and a setback during restoration efforts.

The storms had gusts up to 60 MPH, heavy rain, frequent lightning and quarter-sized hail.

Efforts to restore power in Brick were dealt a set back this morning according to spokesman Pete Johner. Outages in Brick were under 500 before 6AM on Saturday morning,

However, that number jumped to over 2000 thanks to a broken anti-sway bar.

As of 9:30AM on Saturday morning the number of customers in Brick who were still knocked out was at 31 according to JCP+L’s outage map.

Earlier, Johner says several downed trees made it difficult for crews to make repairs. The utility expects all power to be restored today.

8000 Ocean County customers were without power early Friday evening following the storms.

PSE+G’s outage map still shows outages in its Mercer County service areas mostly in Lawrence, Highland Park, Mount Laurel, Burlington and Evesham.

There may be yet another round of thunderstorms in New Jersey on Saturday.
