Being so close to NYC, we're more easily able to do things that people around the country can only watch through their TV sets...

Like see some of your favorite artists perform free!

Going to see a TODAY show summer concert at Rockefeller Plaza is definitely one of those 'bucket list'-type things you should do at least once in your life.

It's a little hectic, a lot of standing around, but also a lot of fun.

This year's lineup is pretty cool, and features a TON of Point artists!

  • May 22: Meghan Trainor
  • May 29: Pitbull (*in Orlando)
  • June 5: Charli XCX
  • June 12: Fall Out Boy
  • June 15 (*Monday): James Taylor
  • June 19: Nate Ruess
  • June 23: Janelle Monae and Wondaland
  • June 26: Imagine Dragons
  • July 3: Flo Rida
  • July 10: Carly Rae Jepsen
  • July 17: Alan Jackson
  • July 31: Jason Aldean
  • August TBD: Jennifer Lopez
  • August 12: Lunch Money Lewis
  • September 4: Brad Paisley

As someone who's gone to SEVERAL of these concerts, I can't stress enough the importance of getting there early...I'd say 6 a.m. the latest if you want the chance to actually catch a glimpse of the person on stage.

Then be prepared to wait...there's usually a short sound check at around 6:30ish, but the concerts don't start until 8:45 a.m....when the artist plays 3 (SOMETIMES 4) songs...and then it's over, and they kick everyone out of the Plaza.

Also, the bigger the artist, the earlier you need to get there...I remember meeting people who had camped out for DAYS to get in.

Also...sometimes it rains...and you will get completely soaked...and sad.

Pro tip: If you decide to make a sign, make your letters HUGE, otherwise you can't read them on TV!

I'd definitely recommend trying to get a VIP pass, which you can do by signing up for TODAY's FanPass newsletter HERE.
