The cold spell has seemed to reach it's low point with temperatures breaking New Jersey records.

The record lows for this date recorded by the Freehold/Marlboro weather station is 1 degree in 1978, and the record low in Oakhurst/Long Branch for today is 3 in 1936. We will not have official numbers from those stations until tomorrow, but it looks like one, and maybe both, will be broken..

The record low temperature for this date at Newark Airport is 5 degrees, and we've already shattered that, as many of us woke up to temperatures near zero, and wind chills that makes it feel 21 below zero.

The record low for today at Atlantic City Airport is zero, and the temperatures were with in a degree of that at times this morning. And the forecast doesn't provide much comfort for today, with temperatures not getting out of the teens today and the wind chill remaining in single digits.

The weekend, however, does show some warmth, with tomorrow's high in the mid 30's and Sunday, we may get to the mid 40's. Finally! Get Dan Zarrow's complete forecast for all the details.
