World Smile Day was created by Harvey Ball, the guy who invented the "smiley face",  to spread cheer and good will around the world. Is New Jersey ready for a day of smiles?

I think we are ready for it...and I think we need it. New Jersey is an interesting place. The Garden State is a great place with  people with big hearts who always seem to be there when there is a good cause that needs help. But it's also the home of the New Jersey attitude. Not everybody has it. I don't have it. You don't have it. But just about everybody does.

If you don't believe me, just try not immediately flooring it the second the light turns green and see if New Jersey people flash you a nice big smile, but don't hold your breath. It's hard to smile when you're leaning on your horn with both hands.

Or how about this. Try getting on the longest line at the supermarket and then pay by check. New Jersey people will be talking about you like you're not even there, and trust me, they won't be wearing their smiley face.

So, let's all take a breath and make sure we're spreading cheer and good will tomorrow on World Smile Day. Maybe we should avoid the Parkway.
