The 2014 list of worst toys for children for the upcoming holiday season is out. You might want to check it before buying something for little ones.

The consumer group WATCH has released its annual list. Some are obvious, but others are things your kids have probably grown up with!

1. The 'Air Storm Firetek Bow'. A light-up power bow which can send an arrow up to 145 feet! No bow and arrow is safe around kids or teens, in my opinion, unless locked up when not in use and only used under extreme adult supervision.

2. The 'Ziggle' 4-wheeled cycle. Kids get the bike moving by wiggling their body. My kids used to love this, but things of this nature can tip and get out of control on hills, so of course helmets are necessary and you should be out there watching your kids at all times if they are riding one.

3. 'Catapencil'. I don't know who came up with this brilliantly stupid idea. It's a catapult to fire sharpened pencils across the room. Seriously?!

4. 'Alphabet Zoo Rock & Stack Pull Toy'. This one seems safe, but WATCH says the cord can get tangled around your kid's throat. That warning, of course, would apply to almost any toy that has a long string and is given to a young child.

5. 'SWAT Electric Machine Gun'. Too realistic, especially if your kids take the orange tip off the gun. Why promote violence any further?

6. 'Wooden Instruments'. Basically, a drum stick! Of course a young child could poke his eye out...but you'd have to get rid of lots of stuff around your house that qualify as sticks if you really wanted to be child-proof. So, although all wooden instruments should come with warnings and some don't, just use some common sense here.

7. 'Bottle Rocket Party'. Needs parental supervision so your child doesn't point it at someone. And safety goggles, too.

8. 'Lil' Cutesies-Best Friends' doll. The bow attached to the doll's head can fall off and could choke a child if they try to put it in their mouth. Again...this would apply to anything around your house that's small and should be kept out of a little child's reach. And of course the warning would also apply to many dolls and kids' accessories...barrettes, jewelry, etc.

9. 'True Legends Orcs Battle Hammer'. It's a hammer. DUH!

10. 'Colored Hedgehog'. A plush toy. WATCH says the hair comes out and could be a choking hazard. Therefore you'd really have to keep an eye on many, many varieties of plush toys with that concern.
