Last week I made my last visit to the Toys 'R Us in Toms River, and it was a pretty sad day on so many levels.

First of all, I feel badly for all the employees at all Toys 'R Us, who were always so nice and helpful. It's a difficult time for them and their families, and I wish them all well. I'd stop at Toms River location frequently over past year the pick something up for my grandson Jonathan and it was always a good experience.

And then there are all the personal memories we all have. For me it was the trips to Toys 'R Us after the pediatrician's office visit (only if I was good of course), and the one time I couldn't decide between the Pillsbury Dough Boy Toy and the Western Town complete with a saloon. (I chose the town).

And then there are all the kids too young to enjoy the experience yet and will never get the chance. That's a shame. Maybe a new chain will come along to fill the void. I hope so, especially for the kids.

The last time I was there, I heard a few moms talking about how they brought their kids there for the last time during the past weekend, and you could hear the sadness in their voice. It really is the end of an era. Toys 'R Us, we'll miss you.

All Toys 'R Us stores are scheduled to close on Friday.
