U.S. Women Win World Cup
The U.S. Women, along with Point Pleasant's Christie Rampone are world champions after their win in the World Cup Finals last night.
The U.S. got off to a quick start and before you know it had a 4-0 lead against the dangerous Japanese team. A hat trick (the quickest in Women's World Cup history) by New Jersey's Carli Lloyd (Delran) gave the U.S. all the scoring they would need as they rolled to a 5-2 win to take the championship.
Christie Rampone who has announced that this will be her final World Cup Competition, ends an amazing World Cup career a champion. It was a proud moment when Rampone, along with teammate Abby Wambach hoisted the trophy.
