Up Close to the Pope with our Friend Gary Gellman
Gary Gellman, Photographer to the Stars (as we call him), good friend of Lou and Liz in the Morning, and the guy that has taken most of our professional photos including our billboard picture, was officially on the tarmac as Pope Francis got off the plane in Philly!
For all the celebs that Gary Gellman has photographed me with, including Bruce, Bon Jovi, etc. etc., this photo opportunity might have been Gellman's biggest moment.
Getting a very rare opportunity, high-level security clearance and all the necessary credentials, Gary was allowed to be there, right on the tarmac, when the Pope landed and got off the plane and down the stairs onto the tarmac.
Here are a couple of the photos Gary got. Also, if you were watching the TV footage that the 'regular' media TV channels were carrying, you saw Gary next to the Pope, since he was one of very few allowed to get that close.
Gary also got that now-famous picture of the Pope kissing the head of the boy in the wheelchair.
What a moment. Gary...we already knew you were amazing...but I am so happy for what a great personal and professional moment this was for you.
Congratulations! And thanks for coming on our show this morning to talk about it!
