There's so much fall fun to be had around here!

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (Oct. 19 - 27, 6 - 9:30): Halloween Hayrides at Allaire Village. A fun and not-too-scary ride for the kids. After they exit the ride, they can stop to participate at even more cute Halloween events at some of the historical buildings on site, including not-too-spooky/funny audience-participation stories and a short show about a "death" and ghosts...all in good Halloween fun and your kids won't have nightmares. (My boys love this!) Advanced purchase is highly recommended for tickets, and the line to wait for a ride can get very long if you don't go early. www.allairevillage.org/tickets.

....and, to go along with this...

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (Oct. 19 - 27): Haunted Train Ride at Allaire State Park (separate registration and ticket purchase, because this is run by a different organization even though it's on the same property). Now this is a downright scary ride for young kids...especially when they ghouls not only get on the train, but when the train comes to a dead stop and you get off and walk through the haunted woods! I think that it is very well done but it scares even my boys. If you DO want to do both, you have to plan out your night for timing purposes because you have to buy train tickets for specific times, and you don't want to have to rush through the hayride to get to the train so allowe a bunch of time in-between. (They have a truck with food and drinks if you need to pass some time). Get your tickets at the train ticket booth, or, for more information, go to www.njmt.org.

FRIDAY (7:45 - 10 pm): DJ Public Ice Skating: A new setup with strobe lights, disco balls, and a live DJ all night long for the younger audience. Admission is $10 plus rental.

FRIDAY (8 PM): Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Great for kids and adults alike, still one of my family's favorite musicals! Paramount Theatre, Asbury Park.

SATURDAY (8 PM): Rock 'N Bowl at the Lanes at Sea Girt. All ages can bowl, with a live band this week (Jersey SureCats!). The stage is set up ABOVE the lanes!

SATURDAY ( 1 PM - 4 PM): Monmouth Beach Scarecrow Festival at Borough Hall. A scarecrow competition, chili cook-off, bobbing for apples, adult and kid's pumpkin carving, a canine costume parade, and an apple pie and cupcake-baking contest.

SATURDAY (10 AM - 4 PM): Old Mill Harvest Craft Fair with over 80 crafters and vendors, children's activities including shimmer body art, at Old Mill School.

SATURDAY (Noon): Pumpkin Patch Day and Oktoberfest celebration, Third Ave., Spring Lake.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY (Noon - 5 pm): Boo on the Boardwalk at Jenkinson's in Pt. Pleasant. Special Package Deal for Aquarium, Castaway Cove and Fun House, Discounted Arcade Games, Trick or Treating, Sweet Shop Open, as well as free family fun and festivities.

SUNDAY (Noon - 3 pm): Brielle Fall Fest at Brielle Park. Build a Scarecrow, Chili Taste-Off contest, and more family entertainment.

SUNDAY (1 pm): Red Bank halloween Parade, Broad St. Cheer on residents as local kids, parents, schools, firehouses, line up (at East Bergan Place and South Street) and march to the White Street Parking Lot.
