Everyone, including the Governor, is talking about the about the situation with the dunes project and whether or not we're ready for another big coastal storm. I know one thing. We're definitely not mentally ready either.

When it comes to weather, nothing is the same as before Sandy. When you heard hurricane season was here, didn't it send a chill up your spine way more than it used to? Of course it did, because we're scared. What happened to us was devastating and it's going to be a long time before we can shake the fear from our minds...if ever.

I can't wait until the day comes when I can hear it's hurricane season, or find out about a flood warning, or hear about high winds and not get that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I've heard some people call it "Sandy shock" and some other things, and I'm no expert, but I believe it's real. And even when the coast is fully physically ready for a storm, or at least as ready as it can be, my brain still won't be...and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
