What About The REAL Jersey Shore? [OPINION]

I don't watch Jersey Shore...I've seen a few episodes, but to be honest, it's just not my thing. I don't need to watch drunken idiots in Seaside on TV -- if I wanted to, I could see the real thing live. But with one knocked up, and one reportedly in rehab (which his reps deny), the cast is STILL set to return to film Season 6. Why? Because people are still watching.

Plenty of my friends watch the show religiously every week for various reasons. Some think it's funny, some are looking for themselves in the background, some just think it's a cool show. Regardless of their reason for watching, every Thursday night my Facebook wall is full of people talking about Jersey Shore. Twitter blows up with everyone talking about #JERZDAY.

Yes, even this blog keeps them in the spotlight, and probably keeps them on our televisions.

Here's the great thing though, if you don't like the show, do what I do: DON'T WATCH IT. If you don't want to see the cast, DON'T GO TO THE PLACES THEY GO. Especially their paid appearances! Deena Nicole did an appearance recently at Freehold Mall and the line to see her was insanely long. So obviously plenty of Jersey Shore residents are fans. Did I go? No.

We can only hope their 15 minutes of fame will end sooner rather than later, but until then, don't expect them to stay out of the spotlight. It's what they get paid to do.

If it makes you feel any better, I will still mock them every chance I get. I encourage you to do the same.

Here's the thing. We know what the REAL Jersey Shore is all about. Let's just keep doing what we do best -- not giving a damn about what anyone else thinks of us.
