I felt like I was melting this weekend, and there were times I couldn't believe just how oppressive the heat and humidity was, but I don't need to tell you that.

Not that this is going to make you feel any better, but this intense heat we're enduring doesn't even come close to the summer record here in the Garden State. Wait until you hear these numbers.

The hottest day ever recorded in the history of New Jersey was 110 degrees (That's just the temperature, not the heat index) and it was recorded on July 10th, 1936, according to nj.com.

We have had other triple digit temperature days, including today (8/15) in 1988 when we hit 100 degrees, and back on June 28th,1969 when the temperature soared to 106, according to new-jersey-leisure-guide.com , and the 105 degree day in New Brunswick on July 6th, 2010.

So, no, we're not shattering temperature records for the most part, and experts say this isn't even an overly hot August here at the Jersey Shore. Try telling that to our electric bill.
