Tinton Falls fire crews are able to put out a brush fire that caused some damage to the back-end of a home on Society Hill Way Sunday night around 6:52 pm.

When Tinton Falls Fire Company No. 1 and other fire crews arrived on scene heavy smoke filled the area and a resident was spotted trying to put out the flames himself.

In addition to some exterior damage to the home, officials believe there may have been some effects from the fire that affected the attic.

The resident was transported to the hospital for treatment of a minor burn injury.

The Fire Marshall's office has taken the lead in investigating the source of the fire.
