New Jersey is known for it's taxes, traffic, congestion, accent and of course food. So which food is the Garden State's signature dish?

There are a lot of great foods that could fit the bill for signature New Jersey food. The first one that comes to mind is pizza. We certainly have legendary pizza, and there's a great pizzeria at every corner, but that's not it.

Then there's our amazing boardwalk food. What true New Jersey resident can resist a dripping, messy sausage & pepper sandwich. The answer is nobody, but that's not it either.

And of course any dish with our famous tomatoes corn or blueberries could top the list too, but that's not it either. So if none of these famous foods are New Jersey's signature food? then which is it?

Well, according to purewow.com, which attempted to identify the "can't miss" food in each state, the answer for us lies buried in the menu at your favorite New Jersey diner. I like where this is going.

And the food that tops the list is an old school favorite, but for my money, I don't think it's better than sausage & pepper or pizza, but at least it has mozzarella on it. The answer? Disco fries!

Yep, fries smothered in mozzarella and gravy is considered to be the can't miss dish if you're in New Jersey. I literally can't remember the last time I had them, or the last time I even heard the name.

But I'm not sure I agree with this assessment. I mean, if you heard someone was visiting the Garden State for the first time, could you ever imagine saying, "Don't miss the Disco Fries"? I don't think so.
