The weather has been so up and down lately ans sometimes you can't tell what season it is form one day to the next.

One of the most popular questions about Jersey Shore weather has been 'Is this normal for this time of year'? So before we go through another whole month of asking that same question, I went to the source, our meteorologist Dan Zarrow. Here's what he says would be normal for May at the Jersey Shore.

Normal high temperatures will range from 63 degrees on May 1 to 73 degrees on May 31.  It's the 5th warmest month of the year (after July, August, June, and September).

Normal low temperatures will range from 45 degrees on May 1 to 55 degrees on May 31.

Average monthly precipitation for May is 3.77".

Then I asked him a question that seemed a little ridiculous, but the answer may surprise you. Is there any chance of snow in May?

Yup!  The Long Branch station has seen a trace of snowfall in 7 of the 109 years since 1907.  The last time it happened? May 1977.

We also asked Dan if he has any info on predictions for the kind of May we're going to have this year.

The Climate Prediction Center's current outlook calls for above normal temperatures and near-normal precipitation for New Jersey for the next month.
So there you go. Everything you need to know to answer the question 'Is this normal? for the whole month of May. Check out Dan Zarrow's weather blogs anytime.
