I have been getting up at a little after 4am for years now, and every morning I have the same reaction when the alarm goes off. I'm shocked. Shocked that it's time to wake up. Shocked that those five hours went so quickly. I've been doing this for years, so you would think I'd be used to it. I'm not. I was just as shocked this morning as I was on this date seven, eight and nine years ago. It got me thinking.. Does anyone get 'enough' sleep?

Sleepfoundation.org says that experts say 'enough' sleep is different for everyone. It depends on age, gender, and many other factors. How much sleep you need is very different than how much sleep you actually get.

I'm sure there is some research somewhere that explains why I am so genuinely surprised every time the alarm goes off, and maybe some other study that can tell me why I feel like I hit the lottery if I happen to wake up ten whole minutes before tha alarm goes off. Knowing I have those extra few minutes somehow makes me happy. I can't be the only one, can I?
