In the September issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine, they ranked the top 100 places to live in New Jersey. We're happy to report the Jersey Shore is well represented!

So how did the mag figure out what makes "the best" town in New Jersey? It was based on the most recent data on home prices, property taxes, crime rates, school results and what they call "various lifestyle attributes."

How did the Jersey Shore fare? Monmouth county, not bad. Ocean county, not good. There was not one Ocean county town in the top 100.

However, 11 Monmouth County towns made the cut. Here's how Monmouth county fared.

#12 - Spring Lake

#13 - Rumson

#22 - Fair Haven

#39 - Sea Girt

#54 - Brielle

#60 - Oceanport

#69 - Little Silver

#75 - Monmouth Beach

#77 - Millstone

#91 - Tinton Falls

#100 - Holmdel

Monmouth county also got some love in sub-sections of the list. NJ Monthly did a top 10 of the best towns for singles. Red Bank and Long Branch scored #3 and 8 respectively.

Finally a nod for Ocean county (ridiculously unappreciated in my opinion). Another top 10 of the best Jersey towns for "Empty Nesters" had Manchester taking the 6 spot. The "Empty Nesters" category was all about space and affordability.
