On average in the 2014-2015 school year, NJ school districts spent an average of $19,652 per student according to the Department of Education's Taxpayer's Guide to Education Spending. Here's how Monmouth County looked.

The school district that spent the most per student was Asbury Park City at $33,699. Clearly that is way above the state average and a 1.8% increase from the previous school year.

The real surprise came when I looked into the Monmouth school district that spent the least per student. That district is Freehold Boro. $15,139 is just shy of a 1% decrease from the 2013-2014 school year.

It's interesting to note that Freehold Regional School District spent $18,189 per student 2014-2015. That's up 6.5% from the previous school year. While that is still below the statewide average, it's much higher than Freehold Boro.
