I pass by the Ocean County Mall every day coming to work. On Monday I noticed a giant inflatable rat along with a few demonstrators. I decided to stop by and find out what is going on.

I spoke to a couple of really nice members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 400. Here's the story.

Boscov's is in the process of installing solar panels on the roof of their store. However, according to the Union, Boscov's has decided to use electricians from out of state as a way to save money.

The Union is questioning why a business that serves Ocean County is not using local electricians.

It's important to note that this is not an Ocean County Mall issue. Boscov's is the only store at the mall that is installing these solar panels.

So now when you're on Hooper Avenue and see the giant rat, and workers gathered around it, you know why.
