We're in the Halloween spirit and naturally we're looking forward to this weekend's festivities!

Whether you're having a party or not, this week's cocktail is easy, delicious, and spooky-looking enough to work into any Halloween display!

Witch's Brew punch

I would totally recommend making this in a giant punch bowl, if you were going for an individual serving, just play with the ratio of hard liquor to liqueur to juice to suit your tastes.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups vodka
  • 1 cup champagne or sparkling wine (optional)
  • 1.5 cups triple sec
  • .5 cup pineapple juice
  • 4 cups concord grape juice
  • club soda or lemon-lime soda (optional)
  • peeled grapes or fresh pomegranate seeds, to garnish (optional)

In a large punch bowl, combine the vodka, triple sec, and juices. Just before serving, top with champagne to add a little fizz (or for fizz with less booze, top with soda.) Add ice just before serving so the punch doesn't get diluted, or do what I do -- have guests add the ice to their individual cups!

For extra 'spooky' effect, the peeled grapes are like slimy eyeballs while the pomegranate seeds look like bloody teeth! (Obviously all part of a wicked witch's brew!)

Put the punch bowl over some dry ice and you'll really have a special potion!

Switch it up:

Try this punch with rum instead of vodka.
Use a flavored vodka, like berry or orange, or look for a specialty black vodka for special visual effect!
Play around with the amounts of ingredients until it suits your tastes!

Bonus: You can totally make this kid friendly by using sparkling grape juice instead of champagne, and subbing out the triple sec for a touch of orange juice! Mix with the regular grape juice, and top with a little lemon-lime soda and the kids will love it!
