Daphne N. recently turned 13 and is an 8th grade student in Monmouth County. She is a beautiful girl that has fought hard against the cancer in her body.

The St. Baldrick Foundation has named Daphne their Honored Child of the Year. So Daphne and her family are inviting you to 'brave the shave' to benefit pediatric cancer research for the St. Baldrick Foundation.

This beautiful and brave young girl volunteered to shave her head at this very fundraiser when she was ten, along with her mother and sister, in honor of a little girl who has since lost her battle with cancer. Little did Daphne and her family know that a couple of years later, Daphne herself would be diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkins Lymphoma).

So shave your head for a great cause! Join the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh-Jersey Shore and Manasquan VFW Post 1838 this Sunday, September 27th, starting at Noon, at the VFW, 30 Ridge Ave.in Manasquan

Be a hero for kids with cancer and join this St. Baldrick's event, whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or make a donation.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

So how is Daphne doing? Well, after undergoing chemo and just finishing up radiation treatments, she will have a Pet scan in November at which time we are all praying that her cancer will be completely GONE.
