From water bottle caps to drinking straws and other bits of debris, you can take part in the Beach Sweeps this Saturday, Oct. 20th!

Clean Ocean Action invites you to participate in the fall Beach Sweep up and down our Jersey Shore.

Groups of ten or more are urged to register in advance, but all volunteers are welcome even on the day of the sweeps.

Check-in is at 9 am and it runs 'til about 12:30 pm, rain or shine. Volunteers will be given trash bags and data cards to record the litter picked up, which goes into COA's database and yearly report. Dress for the weather and bring gloves to protect yourself from sharp objects during the cleanup.

There are so many locations for Monmouth and Ocean County beaches...from Aberdeen (Cliffwood Beach) to Long Beach Island...that you won't have to travel far to help. Or...choose your favorite beach and then spend the day there!

Just click on the Clean Ocean Action link above for the specific locations. Some of those meeting places are: Convention Hall in Asbury, The Belmar Fishing Club, Manasquan's Main Beach, Pier Village in Long Branch, Seagulls' Nest in Sandy Hook, Jenkinson's Aquarium In Pt. Beach, Grant Ave. in Seaside, and so many more locations, including those up and down the Bayshore from Cliffwood to Leonardo!

Let's get rid of all the syrofoam, cigarette butts, and the other littered items that fish, whales, birds, and other animals often mistake for food....sometimes with deadly results.
