This is the 3rd year the PTA is organizing this event and it is always a huge success.  Everyone has a fantastic time.  Prizes are given out in 3 categories: Top 3 EHY Boys & Girls, Top 3 Non-EHY Boys & Girls, & Top 3 Best Dressed.  Also, many local businesses will be there, such as:  DFitness offering fun Zumba workouts to get the party started, Kona Ice, Playa Bowls, & Fantasy Face and Body Art.  There will also be an after party held at Mantoloking Road Alehouse, located on Mantoloking Road in Brick, where a percentage of all food sold will be donated back to the PTA.
Aside from being just an all around fun community event, our Color Run this year is helping to benefit a fantastic cause: Reading.  The EHY PTA is aiming to bring books back into the classroom. The community has a lot of struggling families who may not always have the money to purchase new books.  In school, the children attend their Library special once a week where they are allowed to borrow a book for 2 weeks.  This limits many children's exposure to new and age-appropriate reading materials. The PTA, would like to help change this by installing classroom libraries in each classroom.  All proceeds generated from the Color Run will be used to build these classroom libraries.  Providing a myriad of books directly in each classroom will allow for easy access to new books each day.  The goal is to have enough books to go around so that students can borrow them and even take them home to share with their family.  It truly is a great cause that everyone can benefit from.
In addition, consider donating new and/or gently used books.  These books can be brought directly to the school the day of the event.  They will then be sorted through and placed within the classrooms.  Book donations will ultimately be continued from this point forward in attempt to keep the books within the classrooms fresh and exciting. Keep in mind that these books will be incorporated into elementary school classrooms so they should be appropriate for grades K through 5.
There are so many ways to help out, donate, volunteer, participate, and really make a difference in a school that truly needs a lot of help all while having a great time.
