Senior Miles Richardson scored the game's lone goal in the 64th minute and the Mustangs downed another 2021 Shore Conference Tournament semifinalist by a 1-0 score to open the season, this time beating the Braves.

 

Class B Central

Ranney 2, Point Beach 1

Drew Buck and Dev Nayer scored the tying and go-ahead goals five minutes apart during the first 10 minutes of the second half and the Panthers rallied to beat the Garnet Gulls.

Senior Josh Boyan opened the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute for Point Beach.

No. 9 Manasquan 3, Freehold Boro 1

Sophomore Griffin Linstra and junior Lukas Farkas scored two minutes apart late in the first half and the Warriors pulled away for a win over the Colonials.

Linstra one-timed a corner kick from sophomore Christian Gonzalez in the 29th minute to open the scoring, then Farkas volleyed home a cross from his younger brother, freshman Cruz Farkas, in the 31st.

Junior Vin Hyland knocked in a third Manasquan goal in the 60th off a pass from senior Max Hartelius to extend the lead for the Warriors. Junior Ammar Danish got Freehold Boro on the board in the 75th minute.

Howell 3, St. John Vianney 0

Seniors R.J. Eckelman and J.P. Candela each scored a first-half goal, sophomore Nick Turturro scored a goal in a third straight game and senior Nick Spisak followed four goals in his first two games with two assists on Monday to lead the Rebels over the Lancers for a third straight win to open the season.

No. 4 Long Branch 6, Monmouth 0

Senior Anthony Vasquez scored two goals and junior Chris Lopez added a goal and two assists to spark the Green Wave over the Falcons in their first game of the 2022 season.

Senior Kayk Moreira and junior Wyatt Vicente each added a goal and an assist, junior Nick Dahvi Borges scored his first high-school goal and sophomore Alejandro Lopez assisted two goals for Long Branch.

Middletown North 6, Red Bank Catholic 0

Junior Travis Soto scored two goals and senior Mike Colantino and junior Matt Silva each added a goal and an assist to lead the Lions to a win over the Caseys.

Junior Josiah Stepney and sophomore Nick Dinella each scored a goal, while senior C.J. Crolius and junior Tommy Valinotti each dished out two assists for Middletown North.

No. 7 Neptune 4, Pinelands 0

Senior Earnst Louisius pumped in a hat trick and assisted a goal by junior Kervins Lafortune to carry the Scarlet Fliers to a win over the Wildcats. Senior Aidan McAnee also pitched in two assists for Neptune.

No. 3 Freehold Twp. 3, No. 10 Wall 1

Senior Tyler Santos scored two goals and senior Tim Bertscha scored for the second straight game as the Patriots beat the Crimson Knights for their second straight win over a ranked opponent after dropping the opener at Middletown South.

Junior Victor Torres added two assists for Freehold Township and sophomore Michael Gorman added another in the win.

Junior Luke Bigley scored the Wall goal off a pass from classmate Colin Roarty.

No. 5 Holmdel 5, Matawan 0

Sophomore Stephan Kapranov notched his second straight hat trick and the Hornets blanked the Huskies for their third straight win to open the season.

Junior David Weiner and senior Colin Hynes each added a goal for Holmdel.

No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Middletown South 0

Senior Antonio Santos scored two goals and the Bulldogs cooled off the Eagles to bounce back from Saturday's one-sided loss to Freehold Township.

Santos opened the scoring with an 18-yard strike off a pass from senior Jacob Brown in the 26th minute. Four minutes later, sophomore Ronan Hogg earned a penalty kick and Santos converted the attempt to cap the scoring.

Shore 5, Asbury Park 0

Senior Nick DiNapoli scored two goals and freshman Cooper Attaway followed up his first career goal two days ago with a goal and an assist on Monday in a Blue Devils win over the Blue Bishops.

Freshman Santino Scarponi also scored his first career goal on a penalty kick in the 29th minute to put Shore up, 2-0. Junior Tyler Jackson capped the scoring with his first career varsity goal.
