Love Girl Scout Cookies?

We all have fond memories of getting those boxes of cherished cookies, the infamous Girl Scout cookies. They are not always around and when they are they go fast. Many stash away the "Thin Mints" or "Samoas" in the freezer and save them for a rainy day.

Not only are the cookies yummy it goes to a good cause when you purchase to help fund activities for the Girl Scouts of America. According to billypenn.com, "The first documentation of a troop baking and selling cookies to raise money was in Oklahoma in 1917, according to the national organization’s website, when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee made them in a high school cafeteria for a service project. In the 1920s, troops throughout the country baked sugar cookies and sold them door-to-door in sticker-sealed wax paper bags."

So word is coming out that soon 2 of the Girl Scout cookie flavors will say goodbye. According to a report from SFGATE,  “We routinely reevaluate our cookie lineup to make room for new innovations,” a Girl Scouts of the USA spokesperson told Food & Wine. “Discontinuing Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores may lead to something new and delicious.”

The S'mores were the Girl Scouts take on the classic campfire dessert and the Toast-Yay were French toast-flavored cookie dipped in icing. So if you love those two varieties start stocking up.

By the way, my favorite Girl Scout cookie is the Do-si-dos! Not the chocolate-covered peanut butter cookie, the other one without the chocolate. "Crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookies with peanut butter filling."
