Founded by surfers Abby Taylor & Rob Giuliani, Playa Bowls was born out of the desire to recreate deliciously healthy versions of the acai and pitaya bowls the pair encountered on various surf trips spanning from Costa Rica to Hawaii. Together, they discovered new and unique twists on this popular post-surf treat at each beach and came home wanting more.

Abby and Rob set up a blender and a folding table on the boardwalk in their hometown of Belmar, New Jersey, and Playa Bowls was born. After ten years, thousands of employees, and hundreds of thousands of bowls later, Playa Bowls continues to offer superfruit-packed menu items with a mission to lead communities in healthy, sustainable living.

Playa Bowls are a delicious treat that folks love as breakfast or a snack, and their popularity continues to grow. To celebrate the success, the original "OG" location in Belmar, New Jersey, is getting a makeover, and they will celebrate the event on Saturday, May 17th.

Playa Bowls, the nation's leading superfruit shop specializing in acai bowls, smoothies, juices, cold brew, and more, is returning to its roots with a grand reopening on Saturday, May 17, to celebrate the new look of its flagship shop in Belmar, New Jersey. Located at 803 Ocean Avenue, the original Playa Bowls shop is debuting a vibrant, refreshed atmosphere to welcome its hometown community back inside just in time for summer.

To celebrate the fresh transformation, the first 50 guests in line will receive free bowls and an exclusive throwback Playa Bowls t-shirt featuring the brand’s original logo.

“Reworking our OG shop into a fresh, energizing space that reflects how far we’ve come is such a full-circle moment. Belmar means everything to me – this is where it all started. I’m so pumped for the community to see the new vibe and experience the updated space that still feels totally Playa, just with a fresh twist,” said Abby Taylor, founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Playa Bowls.

Guests can visit the Belmar location from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
