Rare ‘Strawberry Moon’ Will Light Up New Jersey Skies Tonight

What is a Strawberry Moon?

According to Patch, "The full strawberry moon is the opposite of a supermoon. It’s a micromoon, a term used to describe a full moon that occurs at apogee its farthest point from Earth in its orbit, according to NASA."

What Does The Strawberry Moon Look Like

Because the Strawberry Moon is further from Earth than regular full moons, it will be dimmer and smaller than regular full moons at different times of the year.

When is the Perfect Time To View The Strawberry Moon?

In a perfect world, or in this case moon, the best time or "peak" will be at 3:44 am Wednesday morning, or very late tonight lol

What I try to do is find the darkest place in my yard, away from all the outside lights, and grab several different photos so I can compare the shots and pick my favorite ones. So grab your camera and get out there tonight and see the Strawberry Moon.

According to Patch, "The June full moon is called the strawberry moon because it occurs during the relatively short season for harvesting the sweet, succulent berries."
