New Wildwood Super Wawa Will Have That Doo-Wop Vibe
The deal has been struck, and a new super Wawa is coming to New Jersey Avenue in Wildwood. The new store will be two blocks from the old school (no-gas) Wawa that will shut its doors when the new one opens.
According to the Cape May County Herald, this new store will have a similar look to the Wawa on Rio Grande Avenue, done up in its finest doo-wop style.
What we're hearing is that the Wildwood Zoning Board asked Wawa to keep the style of the Rio Grande store that's got a reputation as the coolest of all the Wawa stores, complete with a neon-style sign.
Wawa's New Wildwood Store
This new Wildwood store will be taking the place of the Rite Aid store at 3200 New Jersey Avenue, which will be demolished sometime soon.
This new site is larger and has more room to accommodate gas pumps, additional parking and a larger store.
Wawa plans to feature aspects of the new store design they are using right now for their store launches in Ohio, in this new Wildwood store.
Here's Wawa's explanation of the new store design.
Wawa's new design focuses on efficiency and showcases its off-premise offerings, including built-to-order beverages and pizza. This design includes a defined centered entry, a "V"-shaped column, a cantilever roof canopy, warm interiors, modern materials, a raised ceiling, and large windows.
When Does the New Wildwood Open?
There is no official opening date.
The Rite Aid on the site will have to be demolished first, and then the new store built. That could take a while, perhaps into the first part of 2026.
