New Jersey has spawned quite a few legends in the music business.

Our history of providing some of the best to the world of music goes back a very long time.

The list seems neverending.

As time goes by, those in the younger generation may blurt out names like Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, Halsey, and Charlie Puth, but sadly, there's a host of others they may not even know about.

One of those names from the bygone era is about to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The younger generation probably knows about her cousin, Whitney Houston, but before Whitney, there was Dionne Warwick.

Warwick, the Neice of Gospel Singer Cissy Houston (all that talent in one family), grew up in East Orange and attended East Orange High School.

Now, the City of East Orange is honoring Warwick by renaming the city's North Arlington Ave.

Dionne already has a school named after her, The Dionne Warwick Institute.  The school is the same one she attended as a child in the 40s.

Dionne Warwick has made a personal commitment to giving back to the community she has called home.

The official ceremony will take place on October 11 at City Hall.

Dionne, who is spry at 83 years young, sounds humbled by the honor.  She shared a video with fans, inviting everyone to come to the ceremony.

The singer has won 6 Grammys as well as many other honors.

She has been active in raising funds for AIDS research.
