Tolls on 4 Bridges from NJ to Philadelphia set to increase
Get ready to pay more to drive to a Philadelphia sporting event or concert. An increase was just approved and it's the first time since 2011 that tolls have increased.
What Kind of Toll Increase Has Been Approved?
Tolls will increase from $5 to $6 on four Delaware River Port Authority bridges, the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross and Commodore Barry.
There is a vote next week that could result in the Toll hike to go up to $6.50. That vote is happening next week.
When Will The First Toll Hike Happen?
The first increase on the DRPA bridges takes place starting Aug 1. Get ready to pay at least $1 more for a trip from the Jersey Shore up to a Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, or Union game.
Why is the Toll hike happening?
“The need for the new toll schedule is driven by the challenges of maintaining aging infrastructure & enhancing safety & security.” The DRPA said in an email to Steve Keely of Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
