Hard to believe that it's October, but here we are, in week 40 of the 52-Week Money Challenge!

This week, traditionalists will deposit $40 into their savings for a total of $820.

If you've been doing the challenge in reverse, add $13 into the pot this week, bringing your savings total to $1300 even!

We're getting close to our goal...don't stop now!

And if you're still wondering what you're going to do with all the money you've saved up at the end of the year, why not think about using it as a teaching example for your kids?

I'm broadcasting live from OceanFirst Bank in Jackson today, where they told me about a very cool product for kids called the KidSaveSmart account.

Anyone under 21 can open the account (or a parent/grandparent can open it for a child), with a $25 minimum opening deposit and balance. As a bonus, they'll get $5 for signing up and free mobile/text banking, which parents can use to show kids how finances work.

It's a really cool way to teach kids about saving money (and have them put money away for those pesky college expenses!)

You can stop in to any OceanFirst Bank branch to talk to them about the KidSaveSmart account and other options for saving your cash! You can also call 1-888-OCEAN-33 or visit oceanfirst.com for more info.
