Middletown Police, New Jersey State Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office are investigating a dead body that was found on the sands of Ideal Beach on Monday morning.

Township police responded to the beach around 6:20 am on Monday for a report of a deceased person that was discovered by a passerby who informed law enforcement in Middletown of the finding.

There iss no sign of trauma or other indication of criminal involvement at this time, Middletown Police said, and identification of the body has not been made as of early Tuesday morning.

Further information on the death has not yet been released.
