Ocean man hospitalized after being shot early Tuesday
Police in Ocean Township (Monmouth County) have charged a Garfield man with attempted murder after he shot a man on Sunset Avenue near Walnut Avenue early Tuesday morning.
Patrol officers responded to the area around 3:45 am Tuesday and found the victim a short time later at the hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries from the gunshot wound.
During the investigation, Shakeem Watson, 31, was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody.
After several follow up interviews were conducted by Detectives, they determined that Watson was the sole suspect involved in this incident.
Watson was charged with Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Burglary, Theft, Obstructio n of Justice, and Criminal Trespass.
Watson was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility pending his court appearance.
No other suspects are being sought at this time.
Ocean Township Police have not yet returned a request for comment regarding the motive for the shooting or other related information.
