When a New Jersey retailer asks you to round up, you should do it

Charities that run raffles and bingo in New Jersey, other than veterans and senior citizen groups, can't now spend the proceeds on their own operations.

The pandemic has been a "long haul" for these charities, much like the symptoms experienced by some who've had the virus.

Impact 100 Jersey Coast is a group of women of differing ages, backgrounds, and experiences who come together to make a big impact in our community. As pictures of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Irma in St. Martin, Puerto Rico, and now parts of Florida have been filling our television screens, social media feeds, and news websites, another island that was ravaged by the storm hasn't gotten much press - the island of St. John.

"Walk With Joe", a memorial 5K walk that pays tribute to Joe Driscoll, Chris Gray, and Tom McCann, and all those we lost on 9/11, is tomorrow (Saturday 9/12) at Monmouth Battlefield State Park.

In between the two intense thunderstorms on Saturday, I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours with some of the most amazing people I know, all to benefit a local charity that's helping women with cancer.

The JBJ Soul Kitchen will be hosting an event focused on World Hunger Awareness at the front gardens of the community restaurant this Saturday.
