It is that time of season and anyone with even one green thumb is thinking “gardening”. Great hobby, productive, safe outdoor activity, healthy etc. My wife April has extended our garden this year and it will be bigger than ever.

I see buds on our trees and flowers poking though the earth and I'm soooo excited!!! Spring is here and when the time is right, (usually anytime after Mother’s Day) you can start planting those flowers! I’ve been told that I’m a flower whisperer so I want to share my tricks for bigger buds with you!

Have fun and teach your kids to conserve and protect our air, water, land and wildlife for a cleaner, healthier, and safer place to live, work, and play.

Toms River Mayor Tom Kelaher, the Council and the Toms River Green Team have opened up the Toms River Community Gardens at Riverwood Park.

You can see by the picture that my Mom has the ultimate “Green Thumb.” Her gardening hobby is both rewarding and therapeutic. I always knew that gardening helps some people relax, but I never thought of the other amazing health benefits.

When we received the morning show plant as a gift, Liz accepted it and told the person who gave it to us that we would take good care of it. The minute he left she turned to me and said, "You take care of it".

This weekend had us thinking about summer. Thoughts of days at the beach and pool, and barbeques all over the Shore, and maybe it had you thinking about starting up the garden again.

I know it's a little early, but I couldn't help it. That weather Saturday had me thinking spring and thinking flowers. I spent the whole first half of the day in the yard planting a little springtime.

Flowers were pulled out of the dirt, some of them turned on their side. Dirt was scattered and holes were dug. We had a garden bandit. I would replant, reorganize,and clean up. And then sometime in the dark of the night, the garden bandit would return to unplant, disorganize and mess it all up again. Now it was getting personal.
