Mary Lee, the great white shark who has captured the attention of so many Jersey Shore residents, hasn't pinged since she was detected off the coast of Cape Cod in mid-June.
There's a photo going wildly viral on Facebook claiming to show Mary Lee the Great White Shark majestically splashing in front of a rainbow today in Asbury Park.
Too bad it's fake.
The great white shark that has recently caused some excitement with her close visits along the Jersey Shore has been detected off the Atlantic City coast this past weekend.
Whales are an occasional sight in the ocean off the Jersey coast, especially in late summer as the water warms up...but three whales were spotted on Sunday in two Monmouth County rivers!
Her name is Mary Lee, and she is 3,456 pounds to be exact!
She was originally tagged in Cape May back in 2012.
Well Mary Lee is back!! The great white's tracker was recorded around 8am this morning 10 miles off of Wildwood. Then at 1:04 p.m., Mary Lee pinged again about 12 miles off the coast a little further north, right on the border of Avalon and Sea Isle City.
