The Jersey Fresh produce season has officially kicked off in the Garden State, with locally grown greens like asparagus and spinach available right now.
Five Ocean County schools are among 157 across the state who are participating in the New Jersey Department of Agriculture's fresh fruit and vegetable program which will provide fresh produce to students during the school day as well as a nutritional education.
Lumped in with marijuana, hemp has been banned for decades under federal law. Only with approved legislation can individual states examine hemp's potential for success by attempting to grow the crop.
