Given the loose schedule USA maintains across the year, often divided between half-seasons that spill out in various intervals, cancellations and renewals can be somewhat unorthodox.  While the major networks try to figure out how new series are fitting, USA continues to clean house today by renewing its best outings and picking off the weaker ones.  Hence, 'Burn Notice' inches toward another renewal while plucky legal drama 'Fairly Legal' gets the ax. How soon will USA make it official?

'Burn Notice' fans, rejoice!  The hour is nearly at hand, as Deadline has confirmed that USA is in final negotiations to bring back the Jeffrey  Donovan spy drama for a seventh season of thirteen episodes, at least for now.  Elsewhere, the network has opted to cancel sophomore courtroom drama 'Fairly Legal,' having attempted to boost lagging first season ratings with star Sarah Shahi.

“Sarah Shahi is undoubtedly a star and we’re thrilled she’ll be joining our sister network NBC on 'Chicago Fire,' USA said in a statement. “We are proud of 'Fairly Legal' and thank the very talented cast and crew for two fantastic seasons.”  'Legal' joins 'Common Law' as the latest USA series not to be renewed, while the network earlier today scheduled out returns for 'Suits,' 'White Collar,' and 'Necessary Roughness.'

What say you?  Do you think 'Burn Notice' deserves another season?  What of 'Fairly Legal?  Give us your take in the comments!
