The Nor'easter now known as Winter Storm Athena is over our area dropping rain/snow mixes and freezing out many people that haven't had power (or heat) in a week.

This first named winter storm is the last thing we all need. There are still so many people without power in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Winds today are expected to gust to 50+ mph, putting extra strain on already weakened trees and utility poles.

We have seen utility companies from across the country in our area working to restore power, but they will be unable to use their bucket trucks today as the winds pick up.

There are still tens of thousands of JCP&L customers without power in our area, and that number is expected to increase (again) with today's storm, adding to the problems created by Sandy.
