I spent much of last summer in Asbury Park and as 94.3 The Point gears up for another great season broadcasting from The New Jersey Natural Gas Asbury Park Boardwalk Studio, we wanted to give you the reasons why we love Asbury Park. There are many, but we decided to focus on 10 of them. In no particular order, here are just 10 reasons why Asbury Park is awesome.

  • Convention Hall

Convention Hall is one of the biggest landmarks on the Jersey Shore. Over the years, the venue has hosted performances by Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, and the Rolling Stones, just to name a few. The Convention Hall extends over the beach and oozes music history. Convention Hall is also home to 94.3 The Point's Haunted Hall in October!

  • The Stone Pony

The Stone Pony is one of the greatest rock clubs of all time. The Pony opened in 1974 and has been rocking ever since. Considered a "musical Mecca" by many, The Stone Pony has helped launch the careers of many of today's top musicians and bands.

  • The Cuisine

Brando's Citi Cucina, The Watermark, McCloone's, Cubican, Porta, Langosta Lounge. These are just a few of the amazing eateries in Asbury Park. If there's type of food you're in the mood for, chances are there's a specialty restaurant in AP that specializes in it.

  • The Diversity

People from all walks of life are welcome and accepted in Asbury Park. Asbury Park is the most gay-friendly Shore town. There are many entertainment and event options for the LGBT- community. All ethnicities are represented and Asbury Park is also dog friendly. The 8th Ave. dog beach is a huge hit.

  • The Beach

As one Yelp user said: parking is free if you park a few blocks from the beach, it's a nice big clean beach with plenty of space and doesn't get too crowded, the sand does not blow everywhere or stick on you, it's nice heavy sand, there are no obnoxious/loud/annoying people (as in Wildwood or Ocean City), there are volleyball nets and a there's a mini playground.
