A Great Asbury Park Love Story

I love Asbury Park and the amazing memories of decades past and the memories being made now. Last week, while I was at the New Jersey Natural Gas Asbury Park studio, I met a great couple who shared an awesome Asbury Park love story with me.

Their names are Ken and Ira Roth, and I met them as they took a stroll along the Asbury Park boardwalk. They told me that Asbury Park is a very special place for them, and when I heard the story, I understood why.

Turns out the adorable couple has been together a long time, and it all started in Asbury Park when they met at the Kohr's Ice Cream stand 59 short years ago. In an amazing coincidence, Ira works at a business which is literally feet from where the couple first set eyes on each other in the mid 1950's.

Can you imagine the thrill the Roth's must get, walking along the boardwalk in the very same place they met nearly six decades ago? Ira is a lifetime member of the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, and I can only imagine his happiness about how great the Asbury Park boardwalk and beach look now.
