If your high school student lives in the Township of Ocean, regardless of what school they attend, they could be eligible for a scholarship to help with college.

For the 28th year, the Greater Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce (GOTCC) will be helping college-bound high school seniors defray escalating costs of higher education by providing college scholarships.

The GOTCC scholarship applications are now available for students who live in the Township of Ocean, regardless of what high school they attend, and the children of GOTCC members.

Applications are reviewed by the scholarship committee in a blind process that factors in all aspects of a well-rounded student, weighing heavily in the area of community service.

The GOTCC raises the funds for the scholarships with their annual Comedy Night that began years ago. This successful event (hosted annually by our own Lou Russo) sells out every year.

The Chamber awarded over $13,000 in scholarships to 7 deserving students in 2015, pictured here along with the Chairs at the awards event.

Students will be notified about their award in late December. They will be invited, along with a parent, to attend the Chamber's Annual Awards & Installation Luncheon in January at Wanamassa's English Manor where they will be presented with their award.

The deadline for application submission is December 11th. Applications are available in the Ocean Township High School guidance office, at the GOTCC office at 163 Monmouth Road in Oakhurst (inside the Board of Education building) and on the GOTCC's website.

For more information, call the GOTCC office at 732-660-1888.
