Asbury Park’s Police Chief to Retire
Asbury Park Police Chief Mark Kinmon is reportedly planning to retire in December after
24 years of service. According to the Asbury Park Press, the last day on the job for the city’s top lawman will be September 30th. He’ll be using accumulated vacation and comp time until the remainder of the year.
Asbury Park has been plagued with two dozen shootings and harsh criticism by the Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor but Kinmon says his decision to retire has nothing the do with the ongoing issues.
Reports say Kinmon earned a base salary of $122,042. Capt. David Kelso will head the Police Department in Kinmon’s absence.
