This week you can help support Breast Cancer Awareness by stopping by a special bake sale and donation site to help women with Breast Cancer.

A group of sports moms have put together this event to raise money for a special cause. They are putting together 'Courage Bags' for women fighting Breast Cancer at Atlantic Hematology/Oncology. They also want to set an example and teach their kids to come together to support a great cause.

They will also be accepting donations of the following items: travel size hand sanitizers, lip balm, pens, small pocketbook size journals, travel size tissues, cozy socks, bandanas, pink nail polish and pocketbook size calendars. These items will be used to create the Courage Bags. You can bring those donations to the field this week during practices and the games.

The idea came about after one of the football player's best friend's mom was diagnosed with NonHodgkins Lymphoma. Her son plays football, too, and the football players are going to write letters of courage to some of the women going through treatment. One of the letters says:

"Each time our team goes on the field to play a game we are positive, courageous, determined and we show strength while facing our opponents. So you and I have something in common. When we are out on that field our coaches tell us never to give up. Hope this bag brings you courage. Stay strong and never give up!"

The kids will be making a trip to Atlantic Hemotology/Oncology in their uniforms after the donations are collected and the Courage Bags and letters have been completed. they will personally give the bags to the patients.

The dates for Courage Bag donations or to purchase bake sale items are: today, tomorrow, and Thursday (10/7, 10/9, 10/10 at practices from 5:30 - 8 pm, and Saturday, Oct. 12th, 2013, at all games, which begin at 4:30 pm and the last game which is at 8:30.

They are also selling Loom bracelets that the kids are making which have football and ribbon charms.

So head to Veteran's Memorial Elementary and Middle Schools, 105 Hendrickson Ave. in Brick. The field is between the two schools and they will be selling and collecting right next to the snack stand.

You can also volunteer to contribute baked goods by contacting Christina Thorn at cbt513@yahoo.com or Michele Koehler at mich5576@yahoo.com.

Baked goods will be available during practice times and at all home gamed the week of October 7th - 12th and at all home games Saturday the 12th.
