I was at the end of my cruise to the Caribbean when we learned about the cruise ship disaster in Italy. Some onboard our ship were considerably freaked out by it, but it seemed so far away (literally) that I felt oddly disconnected from it. Until today.

The Asbury Park Press is reporting that a young married couple from Brick was on the Costa Concordia and survived to tell their story.

Mike Stoll and Addie King described the ordeal in detail to the Press, and it really does seem like something straight out of the Titanic movie.

You'd think that nearly 100 years after that tragedy, emergency procedures would be better executed, but in the face of disaster, apparently that wasn't the case.

Luckily, they survived the tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who weren't so fortunate.

Would this deter you from going on a cruise vacation?
